The Problem

1.Currently, existing personal monitoring devices consist of complex applications mainly addressing doctors and other health professionals.

2.Our idea is to realized a simple personalized device that can collect data from attached sensors and present in a simple form understandable for ordinary person, just like the other devices for measuring temperature or indication of measured pressure by a handheld device.

2.An ordinary person understands a problem if temperature is higher than 37 degrees, or blood pressure over 140. We intend at developing a portable personalized heart-monitoring device that will indicate the heart condition.

Concept

A lot of various wearable ECG sensors transfer data to a smartphone or a cloud server using applications too complex for the elderly.

Outpatients need a personalized monitoring system with a simple user interface to show the occurrence and frequency of heart arrhythmia as they appear while wearing it. Flashing red or green will have specific meaning for detected arrhythmia.

Approach

This projects aims at developing a “proof of a concept” by developing a prototype and validating it at lab environment:


1.Design the system.

2.Specify software and hardware requirements.

3.Develop the needed software.

4.Develop a system prototype.

5.Test the developed system in natural and operational environments.

Tasks

Task 1 : Designing the system and specifying the software and hardware requirements and associated protocols.

Task 2: Developing the software and hardware units and integrating them into a functional prototype.

Task 3: Testing and validating the prototype in lab environment.

Task 4: Market research, including observation methods, customer validation and evaluation of user satisfaction.

Impact

Consumer benefit:

A significant reduction in costs for healthcare and the opportunity to practice preventative medicine is expected for end-consumers to prolong their life.


Social impact:

Having a peace of mind for a predictive personalized medical device that will alert on dangerous arrhythmia will relieve people to be worried about their heart condition and will take measures to prevent the worst serious health damages.


Technological impact:

Give burst to related industries that develop specialized sensors for vital parameters, or provide cloud-based services for clinics to provide help for those that really need in a given moment.
